Arch and Museum of Westward Expansion Arch and Museum of Westward Expansion
The Gateway Arch is the ultimate symbol of St. Louis. It rises 630 feet above the city and the riverfront, providing an astounding view from the top. The Museum of Westward Expansion located underground offers exhibits and films about westward expansion, and about the construction of the Arch.

The Arch grounds – the only National Park Service facility in the City of St. Louis – are a pleasant strolling and picnicking area, with two lakes, views of the riverfront, and a grand staircase, known as the Monumental Feature, leading to the wharf. www.stlouisarch.com

Old Courthouse
Visitors to the Old Courthouse can tour restored courtrooms and history galleries, as well as learn about the Dred Scott trial and other significant cases that took place in the building.

Zoo Saint Louis Zoo
The Saint Louis Zoo has educated, entertained and earned a place in the hearts of St. Louisans for generations. With the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904, there began a long and slow process to establish a zoological park. Sure enough, local pride in the giant elliptical bird cage led to formation of a St. Louis Zoological Society in 1910. The City of St. Louis set aside 77 acres in Forest Park for a zoo. The Saint Louis Zoo currently has about 22,805 animals and more than 800 species of animals. Most of our mammals, and many of our other animals, were born in captivity. www.stlzoo.org
